Vehicle specs are custom fields your garage defines — tyre sizes, torque settings, oil type, locking wheel nut codes — that attach to a vehicle record and persist across visits. Once captured, the information is there every time the car comes back.

Set Up Your Spec Fields (Owner / Manager)

Spec fields are defined once in Workshop Settings, under Vehicle Specs. Only Owners and Managers can add or change them.

Open Workshop Settings

From the sidebar, click Workshop Settings, then select Vehicle Specs.

Add a field

Click Add Field, give it a name (e.g. "Front Tyre Size"), and choose a requirement level.

Pick how often the field must be filled:

Required Once — filled once per vehicle and remembered across visits.
Required Every Time — must be confirmed on every jobcard (use this for readings that can change, like tyre pressure).
Not Required — optional reference.

Fill in the Values

Anyone working the vehicle can fill in spec values — including Technicians, since they're the ones reading the tyre size off the car. There are two places to do it.

On the vehicle record: open the vehicle, switch to the Specs tab, and type in the values. They save to the vehicle straight away.

On a jobcard: open the Inspector panel, switch to the Vehicle tab, and expand Vehicle Specs. Changes save automatically and are recorded against that visit — so the jobcard remembers what was true at the time, even if the vehicle spec is updated later. The vehicle record is updated with the same values at the same time, so it never goes stale.

The Completion Gate

Required specs block job completion

When you try to mark a jobcard as complete, any Required Every Time fields not filled on that jobcard, and any Required Once fields never filled for the vehicle, will stop you. A prompt collects the missing values before the jobcard can be signed off.

This applies to whoever completes the jobcard from the jobcard page, regardless of role. If a spec is required and blank, the prompt must be completed before the jobcard can be closed.
