The Inspector Panel

View jobcard details, vehicle history, and customer info without leaving the page

The inspector panel is a side panel that slides open next to your main content. It gives you a quick view of a jobcard's details, the vehicle, and the customer — without navigating away from whatever you're working on.

It's available on every page: the kanban board, calendar, jobcard list, and more.

Opening the Inspector

There are several ways to open the panel:

  • Click a kanban card on the workflow board
  • Click an appointment on the calendar
  • Click a jobcard row in any list view
  • Click the Inspector button in the top bar to toggle it open or closed

The panel remembers the last jobcard you viewed, so toggling it back open picks up where you left off.

On mobile, the inspector opens as a bottom sheet you can drag up and down.

The Three Tabs

The inspector has three tabs across the top: Jobcard, Vehicle, and Customer. Each shows different information about the selected jobcard.

Tap the tabs to switch between jobcard, vehicle, and customer views

Your preferred default tab is saved automatically. If you always want to see the vehicle first, switch to that tab and it'll open there next time.

Jobcard Tab

A summary of the work order:

  • Status — change the jobcard status directly from the dropdown without opening the full jobcard
  • Reference and title — the jobcard reference number and name
  • Assigned to — who's working on it
  • Mileage in/out — odometer readings
  • Notes and comments — any notes added to the jobcard

Below that, expandable sections show:

  • Current Jobs — each job with its description, authorisation status, price, and parts list. You can update part order statuses inline
  • Inspections — any inspection submissions linked to this jobcard
  • Appointments — scheduled dates, with the option to edit or add new ones
  • Payment Status — invoice status, totals, payment history, and buttons to record payments

Live price updates

If you're editing a jobcard and have the inspector open at the same time, the totals in the panel update in real time as you change prices — even before you save.

Vehicle Tab

Everything about the car:

  • Registration — displayed prominently at the top
  • Make, model, year, colour
  • MOT due date — colour-coded red if overdue, orange if due within 30 days. Click Refresh to pull the latest data from the DVSA
  • Mileage in/out

Expandable sections include:

  • Vehicle Specs — editable spec fields configured by your garage (e.g. engine size, fuel type, tyre pressure). Changes save automatically
  • Previous Inspections — inspection history from other jobcards for this vehicle, going back 13 months by default
  • Previous Jobs — past jobcards for this vehicle with their job lists, so you can see what was done before

Previous work at a glance

The vehicle tab is particularly useful during diagnostics. You can see what parts were fitted last time, when the last service was, and what inspections were carried out — all without leaving the current jobcard.

Customer Tab

Contact details for the vehicle owner:

  • Name
  • Email
  • Phone number
  • Open Customer button to jump to the full customer record

The customer tab is only visible to users with permission to view customer records.

Navigating to Full Details

Each tab has an Open button that takes you to the full detail page for that entity:

  • Jobcard tab → full jobcard page
  • Vehicle tab → full vehicle record
  • Customer tab → full customer record

This lets you start in the inspector for a quick look and drill into the full page only when you need to.

Recording Payments

The Payment Status section on the jobcard tab lets you manage payments without opening the jobcard:

  • See the invoice status, amount due, and amount paid
  • Click Add Payment to record a cash, card, or bank transfer payment
  • Mark invoices as sent or followed up
  • If you've connected Square, click Take Payment to process a card payment directly
