An appointment in Pistonlog is a booking with a date (and optional start and end times), usually linked to a jobcard. Setting one creates a booking that shows up on the workshop calendar and gives your team a clear picture of who's expected when.
How to set an appointment
Open the jobcard
From the jobcard list, workflow board, or by creating a new one.
Add the appointment
Go to the Appointments tab and click New Appointment. Pick a date — and start/end times, if you want to be specific. You can also set a title, notes, and a colour.
Schedule
Click Schedule. The booking appears on the workshop calendar view.
Sending a confirmation
After setting the appointment, you can send a confirmation to the customer, either via the bell icon next to the appointment on the Appointments tab or from the prompt shown right after creating a jobcard with an appointment:
- Email — branded HTML with the date, vehicle plate, jobcard ref, and Call/WhatsApp/Email CTAs
- SMS — costs one credit per 160 characters (usually one)
- Both — send each separately; the SMS half still uses credits
The confirmation includes the jobcard's reference so the customer can quote it back if they ring.
Without an appointment
A jobcard doesn't have to have an appointment. Walk-ins, "drop it off whenever" customers, and longer-running jobs without a fixed pick-up day all work fine with no appointment date.
