Running multiple garages

Add another garage, switch between them, and manage what's shared at the company level vs per-garage

OwnerManager

Pistonlog is built for one company running multiple garages. Each garage is its own workspace with its own team, statuses, templates and Square account — but customers, vehicles and users are shared across the whole company.

For the conceptual model of what's shared vs per-garage, see Multi-garage scoping. This article covers the admin side: adding garages, switching, and managing them.

Adding a new garage

Self-service garage creation isn't a finished flow in the UI yet — the Add Garage button on the Company Settings page is a placeholder. To add a new garage today:

Contact support

Reach out to support and tell us you want another garage under your existing company. We'll provision it for you.

The new garage seeds itself

On creation, it gets the default statuses and the three default roles (Manager / Reception / Technician), ready to take jobcards.

Add team members

From the new garage, invite the people who'll work there. See Inviting your team.

The Enterprise plan is designed around multiple sites — if you're regularly opening new locations, that's the tier to be on.

Switching between garages

The sidebar's garage switcher lets each user move between the garages they belong to. The whole UI re-scopes — the workflow board, statuses, suppliers, templates all reflect the currently active garage.

What follows you across garages

  • Your user account (and your email, name, etc.)
  • Customers and vehicles — they're company-scoped, so a customer from Bristol is visible at Bath
  • Notifications are per-user across all garages you belong to

What doesn't

  • Roles and permissions are per-garage. You can be a Manager at Bristol and Reception at Bath.
  • Templates, statuses, suppliers, parts catalogue, garage info — all per-garage. Company-level branding (logo, company name) sits above; per-garage details (address, phone, opening hours) live with the garage.
